Yacht Master
At Alfa Nautical School, we offer two ways to prepare for your Yacht Skipper certification, tailored to your pace, learning style, and availability. Both options prepare you to pass the official theory exam and allow you to complete the required practical training, with different approaches depending on your needs.
The online in-person option includes live classes via Zoom, taught by qualified instructors in small groups. These classes are held twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, in an intensive format to facilitate comprehension. The sessions are recorded so you can review them whenever you need, and you will have personalized support throughout your training. This option includes the mandatory practical training in navigation (48 hours) and radio communications (12 hours), conducted aboard our vessels in the Marina of Valencia.
The self-guided online option lets you study independently, with no fixed timetable and no need to attend classes. You’ll receive a complete study pack delivered to your home, along with access to explanatory videos, exercises and topic-based tests. This option does not include the practical training, but you can add it later at dates that suit you, whether for the compulsory sessions or optional ones (sailing or the Balearic endorsement).
The complete course includes:
Full access to the official syllabus through live classes or digital/printed materials.
Mandatory navigation (48 hours) and radiocommunications (12 hours) training, if included in your program or if you book them separately.
Possibility of carrying out optional sailing practices to enable the command of sailing vessels.
Complete briefcase with study materials: course manual, nautical chart, compass, protractor, set square, tide book, pencil, eraser and pen.
Access to an exclusive app with exercises, official tests and navigation tools to prepare for the theory exam.
Management of examination rights and administrative processing of the qualification.
Advice on obtaining the mandatory psychophysical certificate.
To obtain the official Yacht Skipper title, it is necessary to previously hold the Recreational Craft Skipper (PER) title.
THE EXPERIENCE
More length, more miles, more sea to discover.
The Yacht Skipper certificate allows you to operate vessels up to 24 meters in length, with no power limit, sailing both day and night, up to 150 nautical miles from the coast. It's the next natural step after obtaining the Recreational Skipper License (PER) and opens the door to new routes, such as crossing from the Iberian Peninsula to the Balearic Islands or exploring the Mediterranean with greater freedom and safety.
If you also obtain the sailing endorsement, you will be able to skipper sailboats. And with the additional Basic Maritime Safety Training, the qualification can become a gateway to paid employment in the nautical sector.
PY Pro
If, in addition to the Yacht Skipper qualification, you obtain the Basic Training in Maritime Safety certificate, you can become a Professional Yacht Skipper (PY PRO), which qualifies you to:
To provide supply transport services in inland waters or up to 5 miles from the home port.
Perform tasks related to docking, anchoring, towing or moving vessels within ports or marinas.
Conduct sea trials and operate rescue vessels.
Transport up to 6 passengers on tourist excursions or recreational fishing trips to a maximum of 5 nautical miles from the coast.
An ideal option for those who want to turn their passion for the sea into a professional career.
