Nautical school in Valencia LN, PNB, PER, PY
Alfa Náutica is a school that offers navigation training courses, In this article, we also discuss regulations, safety, and the operation of recreational boats. There are various boating licenses you can obtain, depending on your age, the type of boat you want to sail, and even the distance you plan to travel. These are usually known by initials such as LN, PNB, PER, or PY, and we'll explain them here.
LN or navigation license. This is what was known years ago as a "titulín" or navigation license, so if you hear this name, you'll know what it refers to. The LN license is valid for recreational boats up to 6 meters in length and for daytime navigation up to 2 nautical miles. It's also the license required for Class C personal watercraft.
PNB or basic navigation pattern. With this license you can operate recreational sailing vessels up to 8 meters in length, which have the same privileges as motorboats. The distance you can travel is up to 5 nautical miles, and of course, it also includes personal watercraft.
PER or recreational boat skipper. In this case, it refers to a more comprehensive course that will cover topics such as nautical terminology (each part of the vessel), safety equipment, maneuvers and anchoring, mooring, anchors, rudders, and security. It will also cover legislation, buoyage, international regulations (for preventing collisions), maneuvering, navigation, meteorology, and other navigational topics.
PY or yacht master. This is a course or training program to become a recreational boat skipper. It covers everything from maneuvering and navigation to meteorology. Upon completion, you will be qualified to operate larger recreational boats (up to 24 meters in length with sail extensions) and sail up to 150 nautical miles.
